AWARDSThe Art Shop's Long List of Framing Awards Continues to Grow

The Art Shop won first place in both the open competition and the print competition for the 2008 Carolinas PPFA Chapter Framing Competition held in October in Charleston, SC. The Art Shop's long time framer Chris Taylor designed and executed the winning entry in which he showcased a necklace in a diamond-shaped shadowbox. For the open competition, Chris again designed and executed the winning entry which was a wine label mounted on cork in a shadowbox shaped like a wine bottle. Having won at the regional level, both entries will now go to the international competition next March in Las Vegas. Congratulations Chris!

The Art Shop framing team brought home a 1st place national award in the national Denglas framing competition held in Atlanta recently. Hundreds of art and framing galleries were given an artificial long-stem red rose to frame to highlight the anti-reflective properties of Denglas.

Denglas is the “invisible” glass that eliminates glare. Our entry created by Chris Taylor also won the popular choice award.

Once again, The Art Shop has received top awards for its custom framing expertise. In a regional competition sponsored by the PPFA (Professional Picture Framers Association of America) held October 19, 2003 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Art Shop was awarded First Place in the open competition and Second Place in the 2003/2004 PPFA National Print Competition.

The First Place entry was judged Best In Show by all attendees present. The Second Place entry will now move to the National Competition in Las Vegas in February where, last year, The Art Shop’s first place regional entry received an honorable mention.

The winner of the open competition was a Bat Mitzvah invitation designed by Arlene Dolin and Chris Taylor executed the production. Jaqui Reilly designed the framing for the print and Chris Taylor and Corby Eisbacher handled production.

What Lenny Loves

The Art Shop’s Inc. owner and president, Lenny Dolin, is an avid cyclist, tennis player and art lover, but unlike a lot of people who are either left brain or right brain, Lenny is also adept at debits and credits and anything to do with accounting.  What makes many people’s eyes glaze over comes easily to Lenny.  “I just know enough to be dangerous,” he says.   Modesty aside, thank heavens he’s good at it because a businesses can’t survive without someone in control of its finances.  He pays all the bills and the salaries of our incredible staff and keeps The Art Shop on a steady financial keel.

Lenny has had three careers in his life:
