The Art Shop’s Chris Taylor Wins International Framing Award
For the 2012 PPFA (Professional Picture Framers Association) International Framing Competition held at the Annual Convention in Las Vegas, everyone was given a print called "Fall Leaf/Blue Sky." Our own Chris Taylor won 1st place Popular Choice in the international competition after winning 1st Place and Best in Show regionally. To win Popular Choice, you have to be voted on by the professional framers and gallery owners attending the convention.
Chris created a beautiful multi-angle rustic wood shadowbox which required a skill recognized by his peers.
Way to go Chris!
This isn’t the first time Chris came home with the top prize internationally. (see article below)
MORE FRAMING AWARDS
The Art Shop won first place in both the open competition and the print competition for the 2008 Carolinas PPFA Chapter Framing Competition held in October in Charleston, SC. The Art Shop's long time framer Chris Taylor designed and executed the winning entry in which he showcased a necklace in a diamond-shaped shadowbox. For the open competition, Chris again designed and executed the winning entry which was a wine label mounted on cork in a shadowbox shaped like a wine bottle. Having won at the regional level, Chris also won 1st place, best in show at the international convention held in March 2009. Chris, you're awesome!
The Art Shop framing team brought home a 1st place national award in the national Denglas framing competition held in Atlanta recently. Hundreds of art and framing galleries were given an artificial long-stem red rose to frame to highlight the anti-reflective properties of Denglas.

Denglas is the "invisible" glass that eliminates glare. Our entry created by Chris Taylor also won the popular choice award.
Once again, The Art Shop has received top awards for its custom framing expertise. In a regional competition sponsored by the PPFA (Professional Picture Framers Association of America) held October 19, 2003 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Art Shop was awarded First Place in the open competition and Second Place in the 2003/2004 PPFA National Print Competition.
The First Place entry was judged Best In Show by all attendees present. The Second Place entry will now move to the National Competition in Las Vegas in February where, last year, The Art Shop’s first place regional entry received an honorable mention.
The winner of the open competition was a Bat Mitzvah invitation designed by Arlene Dolin and Chris Taylor executed the production. Jaqui Reilly designed the framing for the print and Chris Taylor and Corby Eisbacher handled production.

A Blip In The Blog

“We hope to inform and keep you up-to-date on the latest in the art and custom-framing world and make you laugh occasionally in the process.”
That’s what I wrote at the end of our first blog on November 1, 2011. I realize now I left out something very important in that line.
