We’re just cleaning up from our Garmash/Danish show and now we’re getting ready for our Fifth Annual Holiday Open House (Thursday, December 6 from 7-9pm).  Yikes! It’s a quick turnaround!

Before the show, we filled our walls with gorgeous Garmashes and Danishes for their show while the rest of our artists cooled their heels in storage.  Since we’ll have a large crowd at our Open House, we’d like everyone to see a more representative sample of the artists we carry.  That means Andy is re-re-hanging the gallery.  We also are busy getting out the Christmas tree and all the decorations that are in storage just like you do at home.

We held our first Holiday Open House four years ago and had so much fun, we decided to make it an annual event.  The first two years, I thought it would be great fun to have all the catering done by the staff.  I collected dozens of recipes and baked and froze cookies and cakes for weeks prior to the show.  I even produced an Art Shop cookbook.  After two years of mega-baking, I didn’t have it in me to do it the next year, so we turned it over to our trusty caterer, Stacey, at Savory Street Catering. Baking for a crowd is her "raison d’etre" – not mine.

This will be our third year for the painting contest.  We set up easels in the atrium and give people 15 minutes to repaint a masterpiece.  We put the results on Facebook and the "artists" have their friends vote on the best painting.  The winner gets a prize.  So many people want to participate each year that we’ve added easels to this year’s event.

Janelle also plans a scavenger hunt each year.  She posts clues all over the gallery and guests compete for prizes.  The staff has been brainstorming for other fun activities, so we’ll have some surprises in store.

Hope you can join us for our 5th annual Holiday Open House - Thursday December 6th from 7 - 9 PM.
Let us know if you're coming so we'll have enough food and wine for everyone!
