All In The Family - Upcoming Show with Vidan

Lenny & I pride ourselves on being a family business.  We are the 2nd generation of Dolins to own & operate The Art Shop having purchased it from Lenny’s father, Stan, in 1989.    Stan had owned & operated the store since 1964. That’s why it’s especially exciting for us to carry a 2nd generation artist – Vidan, nephew of the late internationally renowned figurative artist, Pino.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Vidan, born Vittorio Dangelico in Perugia in 1965, showed artistic talent and a great passion for art at a very early age. Encouraged by his parents and his uncle, Pino, he trained at some of the finest schools in Italy.  Pino moved to the US in 1979 and Vidan followed in 1988.  He followed in his uncle’s footsteps and took work as a cover illustrator for romance magazines.  For 15 years, his artwork appeared on book covers for such publishers at Doubleday, Harper-Collins, Harlequin and others as well as for Vogue Italia and MaryKnoll greeting cards.  His goal was always to be recognized as a fine arts artist.  Finally, in 2004, major galleries began to display his work.  He joined his uncle in his studio and the two painted side-by-side until Pino’s death in 2010.  Vidan is an extraordinarily talented artist.

His style has been compared to the early Impressionists, Monet and Gauguin. His portraits, often sensuous, depict a wide range of emotions in the subject and the vibrant colors he uses bring his paintings to life.

Your art shows are such fun. My family and I love to see the additional pieces the artist has on display. And to meet the artist in person is always a treat.

I really, really love Pino's and Vidan's paintings. Especially the way they paint the light and the women. I was very sorry when I heard about Pino; we will miss him.
I see Vidan as a very promising successor of his uncle's style. Thank you to give us this testimony of your sensibility.

Having collected many of Pino's works and also placed them in clients' homes I was so disappointed to have never met him. Vidan seems to be the artist that all of flock to for the authentic Pino style. I would mean the world to me to meet him.

It would be amazing to meet Vidan. I have had the benefit of meeting Pino two times before at the Art Shop and he was such an inspiration to talk to. It was obvious that he loved to paint. I have one of his hand embellished Giclee's (Deborah Revisited) and she is the centerpiece of my home and is the first thing that you see upon entering out home. Pino also signed his prints for me over the years and I cherish them and display them in my home.

I would be so lucky to meet Vidan and learn more about him and what inspires his work. I would love to be able to talk with him and find out what it was like to paint with his uncle.

To meet Vidan would be a beautiful gift that anyone would be lucky to have.

Caro Divan,
I am the daughter of a wonderful man and sister to six brothers and a sister. And to know that you can capture the wonder of a woman such as you do reminds of when my Father would tip his hat as he walked down the street and greeted a woman. You honor woman as we are. Full of life and always giving life thru the years, through our daughters and sisters and friends.Like my Mother. I have a magnificent Pino of Deborah Revisited and I dream of a new piece of yours for our new home in New Jersey.
Arreverderci,
Regina

After a whirlwind weekend several years ago to meet Pino, we are happy to have some of his ‘personalized’ pieces in our home. Not too long ago, we found a painting that really captured us, titled “Summer Heat”. At first we thought it was by Pino, but discovered it was a work by Vidan [we didn’t know the connection but were amazed at the similarities in style]. As we learned about Vidan, his connection to Pino, and his own very obvious talent, we loved his vivacious portrayal of models, from sensual to sentimental, and how each one conveys such a depth of emotion and imagination. He transforms canvas into a works of mesmerizing beauty. That is Vidan!

As‘amateur collectors’ it would be precious to us to dine with Vidan and exchange dialogue about his own successes and aspirations. We look forward to adding his exquisite art to our very humble collection which includes works from Pino, Seymour, Garmash, Monte, Johnson, Markham, Bolet, Burdick, and others. Salute!

WOW! I am in the beginning stages of learning more about art and the special artists that sometimes are behind the piece
of work, yet within the work of art. I was/am an art framer that was taken away with the art of the great late Pino. My sincere condolences to you, Vidan, and all those fortunate enough to have had time with Pino. I; by no means, can afford your work but I do treasure the giclee that I have of one of Pinos' pieces of work! I would love to meet you and become familiar with you and your beautiful art work! Sincerely, D.Rose :-)

Pino has alway been one of my favorite artists. I am looking forward to meeting Vidan and seeing his recent work. I know it is going to be inspirational. He really seems to know how to capture "the mood" we women feel. We love the four pieces we purchased at The Art Shop, and would love to find the perfect work of art to fill that empty space above our fireplace!

Being a fan of all art and especially, Michelangelo, it would be an honor to discuss this famous artist along with the art work of Pino. Tears cascaded when I saw "The Pieta" and my heart sang when " I met David". Pino's work so touched my spirit. in the same way. Vidan knows Pino's works keep him alive as well Vidan's will too.
That's the miracle of art. Meeting him and 'breaking bread' with Vidan would be a joyous honor.
Looking forward to the 4th. Prego!

I love the Art Shop, it's staff and services and most of all your shows. I have never been let down.

So sorry to hear about Pino, but I would love to add to my singular collection, learn about his successor and more about his artistry. It would be an honor!

We own a couple of Pino's and I was just curious if Vidan would be as much of a flirt with my wife as Pino was when we met him a few years ago at your party:) We had a great time!!

I have been to a number of your shows and thoroughly enjoyed them all. I am a proud owner of two Pino's,that give my wife and I much joy everyday. We take pride in showing our Pino's to all who come and visit our home. It not only would be an honor to spend an evening with Vidan but,to show one of his works with his uncles would make our home complete!!!!

I enjoy Vidans work because he is a more daring artist _than his uncle. I have purchased a couple giclees on artists paper however, haven't had the capital for such an investment. Indeed, having the the elegant room to display such a piece would require again an amount equal to the cost of the "work". I enjoy his work as Vidan is the best figurative artist alive today. (in my humble opinion) An evening with Vidan would be priceless.

Your events are always such a welcoming and hospitable time. So I just can't imagine what a dinner with the artist would be like! I always had hopes of owning a Pino, but now maybe after a dinner with Vidan my hopes can live on in owning one of his! See you all on May 4!

Actually I have never been to your art shows and as a matter of fact have never been to any art show! When I first saw Pino's work my heart skipped a beat and just loved all his work. Was so saddened by his death and would love to take a trip South to meet his nephew Vidan to get first hand stories of two magnificent artists.

I just love going to your shows! The staff is so friendly, nice, and accommodating. I love coming into the shop and just browsing. I need to pull the trigger on buying a piece here soon, I know just the place I want to put it, all I need is the right piece to go there. I hope I find it soon, perhaps at the upcoming show and dinner with Vidan...hint hint ;) You guys are great!

I have been a teacher at a private school here in town for almost 15 years now. I absolutely love it. I show my kids slides of art all the time and show them what following their passion can lead to. I love just mingling with the artists and having new interesting pieces in my house. Its great having them as conversation pieces for when I invite my girl friends over for our book club or wine on a nice Saturday night!

I would like to have dinner with Vidan most because my knowledge of art is very limited and I believe that talking with him and taking in his experiences and his muses would greatly benefit my appreciation and understanding of not only his art but of many other artists as well! As this is a world that iw oudl really like to get to know more! I greatly look forward to the upcoming shows!

I come to all of your art shows. I got to meet Pino back in 2006 and would love to meet his nephew. His work is so beautiful. I admire any one with great talent and the responsibility to share that talent with the world. I would love to have dinner with Vidan.
