Welcome To The ART SHOPTALK

Hello and welcome to The Art SHOPTALK!  In case you don’t know us, we are a 5500-square foot state-of-the-art fine art and framing gallery.  While we are physically located in Greensboro, North Carolina, we have shipped art and framing to as far away places as Australia, Spain and Russia.  Thanks to the Internet, our customer base is Planet Earth. (We haven’t ruled out other planets in the future – we feel they are untapped markets.)

The Art Shop was established in 1899, which makes us one of the oldest art and framing galleries in the country.   Lenny and Arlene Dolin purchased the gallery in 1989 from Lenny’s dad, Stan Dolin, who had owned it since 1964.  The family Stan purchased it from had owned it since the 1920’s. At 112 years old, The Art Shop is Greensboro’s second oldest business.

Our Gallery Director is Andy McAfee; frame designers are Jaqui Reilly and Janelle DiLizio; Production Director is Chris Taylor and framers are Will Hawkins and Dale Briggs.  You’ll hear more about our amazing staff in future posts.

Our gallery and website are filled with the world’s most collected artists – originals, limited-edition canvases, sculpture and fine art glass.  Our creative designers and framers have won numerous regional, national and international framing competitions sponsored by the PPFA (Professional Picture Framers Association). The Art Shop was voted Top Gallery in the Nation for Retail Excellence by DÉCOR MAGAZINE five years in a row and the Greensboro Merchants Association/Greensboro Chamber of Commerce voted The Art Shop Top Retailer of the Year in 2008. And in 2003, the Chamber voted Lenny Small Business Person Of The year.   Lenny always says, “If we’re even half as good as we think we are, we’re pretty darn good!”

Ours is an industry that provides beauty to people’s homes and offices. We love what we do and love to talk about it!  As anyone in retail can tell you, when you work with the public, you usually have some interesting stories to tell.  We hope to inform and keep you up-to-date on the latest in the art and custom-framing world and make you laugh occasionally in the process.

And we would love to hear from you.  Please send us your comments, suggestions on how we can serve you better.
